No Poo

I am kind of embarrassed to say this but my husband and I are on our 8th day of no shampoo or conditioner, at least not the in traditional since of the word. We instead began transitioning our hair from traditional shampoo and conditioner to baking soda and vinegar and will eventually use NOTHING……I know you just said to yourself YUCK! Do not judge until you have researched and attempted it yourself. It is not only cheaper and better for the environment but is chemical free. It allows your body to naturally produce oils the way it was intend to without being stripped by manmade products. There really are a lot more people going this route than you would realize but just for the pure fact that it is not very culturally acceptable people do not discuss it.
I am somewhat of a conspiracy theorist when it comes to advertisers and this is one of the most heavily advertised products in America. Modern shampoo has only been around since the 1930s, it has not always been the norm to wash your hair everyday but it has evolved due to marketing and peer pressure. According to some experts the more often you wash your wash the more often it is going to require it. Shampooing strips your hair of its natural oils which causes your scalp to produce even more oil making it a greaseball if you even skip one day of washing.
If you are able to make it through the transition phase of your hair and scalp adjusting to not being stripped anymore and producing oil naturally you will be left with shinier, healthier looking hair with less frizz than ever before. The transition phase varies from person to person but generally lasts from two to six weeks. Personally, my transition phase so far has been great; very little oil, I would have thought my hair would be matted to my head by now but it is not. It feels fuller and thicker already just after a few days, so I can only imagine it will continue to get better. Give it a try and see what you think, it may surprise you!
